Seminars

Who are they for? Paper Knowledge Seminars are for:
- Customers
- Merchants
- Publishers
- Forms printers
- Advertising agency reps
- Graphic designers
- Paper specifiers
- Printing industry personnel

What are they about? These seminars are about the relationship between paper and printing. They explain and demonstrate the properties of various paper grades, discuss the relationship between design and paper, and explore various printing methods. Our hands-on approach using workshops ensures attendees will long remember their experience.

With today's fast pace we now emphasize our field programs, held at your or your customer's location. Most field seminars are one-day programs, but programs of different length are also available based on individual needs. Depending on the customer's location, a visit to one of our mills (Wickliffe, Kentucky; Luke, Maryland; Rumford, Maine; Escanaba, Michigan; Chillicothe, Ohio) may also be possible.

A typical agenda for a one-day program is outlined below.

Welcome - 1/4 hour
Paper Manufacturing - 1 1/2 hours
Manufacture of Coated Paper - 1/2 hour
Video - 1/2 hour
Mechanical Properties - 1 hour
Styling Characteristics of Paper - 1 hour
Runnability and Printability - 1 hour
Printing Methods, Including Digital Technologies - 3/4 hour
Surprise - 3/4 hour

The actual topics that can be discussed vary and can often be customized to fit your group's specific needs. We can also cover more advanced pressroom topics related to inks, paper and fountain solution.

Why should I go? Different people will find different benefits from the Paper Knowledge Seminars:
- Printing and publishing people will be able to avert (or more easily solve) problems involving the runnability and printability of paper.
- Salespeople will be able to identify more sales opportunities.
- Designers, advertisers, and specifiers will be better able to select the best paper suited to a job, taking into account design, processing equipment and final end use.

It's a unique learning opportunity for anyone interested in broadening their knowledge of paper and printing.
